As one of the world’s top locations for international arbitration, Switzerland is particularly suited to provide education in international arbitration at the highest level.

The Swiss Arbitration Academy is a private institution founded and directed by a group of renowned arbitration practitioners, including attorneys and professors, and provides professional and practical training in arbitration.

The Swiss Arbitration Academy offers postgraduate degrees in association with the University of Lucerne and the University of Neuchâtel.

CAS in Arbitration Programme

Interested in advancing your studies in international arbitration?

The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) program is a 10 ECTS joint degree of the University of Lucerne and the University of Neuchâtel in cooperation with the Swiss Arbitration Academy.

ASA has been offering world-class training and recognition of talents for many years.

All four modules start on Thursday mornings and finish on Monday afternoons. The course stretches from April/May to January of the following year.

The next course will start in June 2025. All courses are taught in English and the dates can be found below.

SAA Arbitration Practitioners Course

Looking to refine your arbitration practice?

Successful participants of the Swiss Arbitration Academy (SAA) Practitioner’s Course receive the Arbitration Practitioner Diploma (ArbP) from the SAA.

The ArbP program is for qualified participants with some previous experience in arbitration. The program demands active participation during the course, which includes pleading training on the basis of mock cases, role plays of arbitration-related scenarios, drafting sessions to learn how to draft written submissions and interactive discussions on cutting-edge arbitration topics.

The modules are held together with the CAS in Arbitration class. The course stretches from June to January of the following year.

ASA has been offering world-class training and recognition of talents for many years.

CEMAJ

The Research Centre on Alternative and Judicial Dispute Resolution Methods (Centre de recherche sur les modes amiables et juridictionnels de gestion des conflits – cemaj) of the University of Neuchâtel regularly organizes seminars and conferences on arbitration and ADR-related topics.

Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA)

FIAA currently offers International Arbitration Advocacy Workshops for arbitration practitioners twice a year in different locations around the world. These workshops feature learning-by-doing programs led by experienced advocacy instructors and international arbitration practitioners.

FIAA also runs an annual International Arbitration Advocacy Workshop for university students enrolled in the Geneva Master in International Dispute Settlement Program jointly offered by the University of Geneva Law School and Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.
